  • 2/3 cup sml cut oats
  • 1x400g can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup cooked sweetcorn
  • 1 Tbsp fresh thyme, roughly chopped
  • TO SERVE
  • 1 Tbsp fresh oregano, roughly chopped
  • 5 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 1-2 tsp Natural Herbs and Spices Cajun
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Natural Herbs and Spices Pink Himalayan Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • Tomato slices
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • Onion slices
  • Zest and juice of ½ a lemon
  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise

Method

Start off by adding the onion, garlic and oats into a food processor and pulse for a few times until the ingredients are chopped up into medium pieces. Then add in chickpeas, sweetcorn, herbs, Natural Herbs and Spices Cajun Seasoning as well as Natural Herbs and Spices Pink Himalayan Salt, Natural Herbs and Spices Black Pepper, oil and lemon zest and juice. Pulse again until the ingredients blend together. Now, equally divide the scrumptious burger mix into 5 equal burger patties and shape into patties.  We recommend wrapping each burger patty in cling wrap and placing into the freezer for 1 hour, before braaing.

Next step, braai the burger patties over medium hot coals, for 5-7 minutes on each side or until beautifully golden brown. Once done it is time to assemble these yummy burgers. Using a sharp knife cut the buns in half. On the bottom half of the buns smear generous amounts of mayonnaise and a healthy dusting of Natural Herbs and Spices Cajun Seasoning. Top the creamy mayo with lettuce, tomato and the gorgeous veggie patties. For finishing touches add slices of purple onion, more mayo and top with the other half of the buns. Serve with salad or potato wedges, however you decide to serve these burgers we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
